This company had a Logistics, Shipping and Accounting package that had limited management reporting, no forecasting and inappropriate financial reporting functionality. The required reports had to be produced manually from a number of spreadsheets making it very time consuming, requiring the services of one full time employee.
To produce a new bespoke business software application, fully automating this process, making the reports directly available to senior management. Also to incorporate more complex and detailed reports that were previously too time-consuming to produce.
A two stage approach was taken. Firstly, to replicate the existing process, to give the confidence that the manual process had been fully understood and was working correctly. Stage two, to produce the extended reports and to enhance the application to include new possibilities that had been exposed by the stage one development
To build in new functionality to allow the custom software application to be customised by the accounts staff to allow future changes in the accounting structure to be accommodated.
